Masainas is located in the center of Sulcis, and it is a ideal destination to fully enjoy the beauty of south west Sardinia. The communities of Sulcis-Iglesiente treasure their beautiful beaches and committ themselves to preserve the sea and its surprising shades of color in the entire coastline.
Sulcis-Iglesente province covers an area of 200km from Sant’Anna Arresi to Fluminimaggiore, including the archipelago of Sant’Antioco and Carloforte. The coastline landscape offers long sandy beaches, small inlets, maritime caves only reachable by boat.
The blue color of the sea changes based on the beach and the season of the year, passing from the crystal clear azure to deep turquoise. Depending on the location, sand can be golden and soft or made of grainy stones, in the coastline there are many pine forests which provide cooler shelter from the summer hot as well as oasis of Mediterranean scrub surrounding the beaches.

Sulcis offers plenty of opportunities to practice many sports. Water sports like Surf, Kitesurf, Windsurf and Sup are becoming very popular from the northern to the southern side thanks to its latitude it is possible to enjoy as many winds as possible.
Down to the rocky coast you can practice scuba diving and snorkeling to observe and explore the sea bottom, the maritime flora and fishes.
The cliffs overlooking the sea, made of white calcareous walls, will give you the unique emotion of a free climbing in front of a breath-taking panorama. There are also many inlands climbing routes overlooking fascinating natural landscapes.
Sulcis-Iglesiente is a heaven for mountain lovers who come from all over the world to practice on walls and exclusive locations like Pan di Zucchero, Masua, cave of San Giovanni in Domusnovas.
Hiking trails spread in the territory allowing travellers to enjoy the natural parks, oak trees forests, the wetlands and the Mining route of Santa Barbara.
You can experience horseback riding on many adventurous itineraries mixing the sea, the inland nature and archeology.
