South West Sardinia is a land that preserves histories of millenia past, from the pre-nuragic era to the modern cities of Italy’s fascist era.
There is a high concentration of archeological sites spread in the countryside and rural areas: nuraghes, hypogeous tombs, Dolmens and roman sites.

A JUMP INTO THE UNDERGROUND
The mine sites testify the history of our territory, some of them have become sites of tourist and cultural interest where you can experience the workers life and the historical values of the sites by visiting the tunnels leading to the bowels of the earth.
It was the hardest work on earth, all the man and women who have been there are left with a mark.
Nowadays a group of institutions (Minicipalities, Geo-Mineral Park, etc.) tray to increase the value of these post-industrial assets.
The underground is also made of fascinating natural caves, due to the calcareus terrain the water dug and shaped the rock creating marvellous hidden places.

Traditional arts and craft like like pottery, weaving, joinery, traditional glass processing are still alive and passed down from one generation of artisans to another.
In the end, in Sulcis you still can find some unique places where recurring events live through, like in Portoscuso and in Carloforte during the traditional Tonnara.
